Dry blood on clothing

Q: During the recent Eid we noticed that many of those slaughtering and skinning Qurbani animals performed Salah with clothing that had dried blood on it. Is this permissible?

A: Blood that flows from an animal is najis and impure. If such blood soils the body or clothes and the soiled area exceeds the circumference of the hollow of the palm (approximately 2.5 cm in diameter or the size of a R 5 coin) then Salah will not be valid in such clothing.

If the clothing was stained from the flesh/meat etc. after the blood has stopped flowing, then this is not impure and Salah in such clothing will be valid. However, it will be Makrooh to perform Salah in such clothing when there is no pressing need. Majmaul Anhur, Vol.1 ,Pg 92
