Question: How is the discharging of the Kaffarah (expiation) for fasting done, for one who is unable to fast consecutively for 60 days?
Answer:
If a person is unable to keep the 60 consecutive fast for Kaffarah, then according to the Hanafi Mazhab, discharging of the Kaffarah should be done Ibahatan (consent to partake in the meal) or Tamleekan (granting ownership to a recipient). Accordingly, the Kaffarah could be discharged by feeding 60 poor people two meals a day, or by giving each one of the 60 poor people the amount of Sadaqatul Fitr or more.
N.B: One could also opt to feed one poor person two meals a day for 60 days.
