Following the 3-year-period in which Covid-19 reduced the scale of the annual Hajj pilgrimage significantly, this year’s Hajj features a full capacity crowd.
Over 2 million pilgrims across 160 countries have converged in Makkah this week to begin their spiritual journey. This follows the restoration of several countries Hajj quotas to prior the Coronavirus pandemic.
Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah; Dr. Abdel-Fattah Mashat; stated that this restoration of numbers was the most important feature of this year’s Hajj, and also marked the beginning of preparations well in advance at the holy sites.
This includes services provided through the Makkah Road, the efficiency of receiving pilgrim arrivals, the completion of all arrival procedures prior entry to Saudi Arabia, and many more efficient services.
Through past experiences over the decades, the deputy minister stressed that Saudi Arabia has developed ideal methods of crowd management which is unique to the Kingdom and cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
