The initiative is by South African electric vehicle infrastructure company Zero Carbon Charge (CHARGE), which seeks to accommodate for the rise in electric vehicles in the country, and to mitigate the nation’s energy constraints.
CHARGE stated, “By building off-grid EV charging infrastructure along key transport corridors like the N3, we are reducing dependence on volatile fuel prices while creating greater energy and transport cost stability over the long term.”
Plans are in the works for the installation of 60 nationwide charging stations by the end of 2027.
