Meteorologist Andre Fourie said, “October marks the start of the rainy season for South Africa’s summer rainfall regions, and this year the month brought above-normal rainfall to several areas. In fact, for some locations, October 2025 ranked among the wettest in recent history.”
The SAWS senior manager for disaster risk reduction, Rudzani Malala, added, “We have a number of measuring stations that have indicated way above rainfall amounts than normal rainfall we get… we know that when we get rainfall, it also comes with challenges as well like damages to infrastructure, waterborne diseases and many other issues - but it’s good for the country that it’s getting weather, and it’s good for the agricultural sector.”
