Hazrat Amr ibnul A'as (R) accepted Islam in 5 AH or 7 AH. It is recorded that in 7 AH he came with Hazrat Khalid bin Waleed and Hazrat Uthman bin Talha (R) and they all accepted Islam together. Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) appointed Hazrat Amr (R) as the Ameer of the expedition to Zatus Salasil. Later Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) appointed him as the governor of Oman. He remained the governor till the demise of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam).
Hazrat Amr ibnul A'as (R) conquered Egypt in the time of Hazrat Umar (R) and was appointed the governor. He was the governor for four years during the time of Hazrat Uthman t and was reappointed during the time of Hazrat Muawiyah t. He passed away there in 43 AH at the age of 90. His son Hazrat Abdullah, Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar Hazrat Qays bin Abi Hazim (R) narrate from him.
VIRTUES
Hazrat Uqbah bin Aamir (R) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “The people have accepted Islam. Amr t has brought Iman.” (Tirmizi)
Hazrat Talha (R) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “Amr ibnul A'as t is from the pious of the Quraish.” (Tirmizi)
