Name: Abbad bin Bishr bin Waqsh Al Ansaari Al Awsi Al Ashhali

Hazrat Abbad bin Bishr (R) accepted Islam in Madinah Munawwarah at the hands of Hazrat Mus'ab bin Umair (R). He was present in the expeditions of Badr, Uhud and all the other battles with Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). He also participated in the killing of Ka'b bin Ashraf. He was made Shaheed (attained martyrdom) in the Battle of Yamamah in 11 AH. He was 45 years old at the time of his martyrdom.

VIRTUES

Hazrat Anas (R) narrates that once Hazrat Usaid bin Hudair (R) and Hazrat Abbad bin Bishr (R) were by Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) on a dark night. When they departed, the staff of one of them became illuminated and they both were walking with that light. When they separated then the staff of both of them became illuminated. (Musnad Ahmad)

Hazrat Ayesha (R) narrtes that once Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) performed Tahajjud in her home and heard the voice of Hazrat Abbad bin Bishr (R). He (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) asked, “O Ayesha is this the voice of Abbad?” She i replied, “Yes.” Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) then made Dua, “O Allah have mercy on Abbad.” (Bukhari)
