THE report “New unit will transform health department,” Daily News, July 21 refers.
Hopefully the words of the Premier of the Eastern Cape, Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane, would become a reality and effective, efficient public health services - particularly at this venture – would be delivered to the people not only in the Eastern Cape, but the whole of South Africa.
The Covid-19 pandemic has put a strain on the public health services of many countries, with many unable to cope.
Our public health services have a dire need for human resources, equipment, infrastructure facilities and medical supplies.
For all the coverage of the shortcomings of our public health services, the dedication, commitment and loyalty of medical staff - particularly nurses – who have given their all to the running of our health services under the prevailing conditions, are to be commended and not overlooked.
