The spate of attacks on Emergency Medical Service staff are unacceptable.

The nature, importance and performance of their duties behoves that they are protected from crime rather than be so vulnerable to it.

It is indeed a sad state of affairs that 29 paramedics had taken stress leave and others cannot effect their life-saving duties due to criminality.

The full weight of the law needs to be enforced and harsh sentences meted out to criminals apprehended for their crimes in our society.
