There is a common misunderstanding that three Talaaqs have to be uttered for the divorce to be valid and that the Talaaq does not occur by giving one or two Talaaqs. This is absolutely wrong! Giving three divorces at once is a great sin and causes the marriage to be absolutely terminated, with no room for reconciliation.
